New Irish headquarters marks the next stage of Rockstone Engineering’s growth, strengthening its presence across Ireland and Europe while creating a new base for specialist engineering talent in Monaghan.
Rockstone Engineering has marked an important milestone in its continued growth with the establishment of its Irish headquarters at MTEK II in Monaghan, the company’s second European location alongside its operations in Switzerland.
The new Monaghan base strengthens Rockstone’s presence across Ireland and Europe and provides a platform for the company to continue growing its specialist engineering capability within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and wider life sciences sectors.
To mark the milestone, Rockstone recently welcomed representatives from industry, education and the local business community to its Monaghan office for an Open Day, providing an opportunity to share more about the company, its work and its ambitions for the region.

As pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies continue to invest in new manufacturing facilities and expand existing operations across Ireland and Europe, access to experienced engineering talent remains one of the industry’s key challenges.
Rockstone’s approach is built around bringing specialist disciplines together and providing clients with engineering expertise capable of supporting projects across different stages of their lifecycle – from design and implementation through to commissioning, qualification and operational readiness.
The Monaghan operation will play an important role in supporting continued growth.
Creating opportunities from Monaghan
For Managing Director Christopher Greenan, who is originally from Rockcorry, Co. Monaghan, establishing Rockstone’s Irish headquarters in the county also has a personal significance.
Having left Monaghan at 22 to pursue engineering opportunities abroad, his ambition is to help create the type of specialist, internationally focused engineering careers locally that previously required engineers to relocate.
“We believe Monaghan has the potential to become a strong hub for engineering talent and innovation. Our ambition is to create opportunities for talented engineers to build international careers from here, while supporting some of the most complex life sciences projects across Ireland and Europe.”
The location also gives Rockstone access to engineering talent across the wider border region while creating an Irish base from which the company can continue developing relationships with clients, industry partners, educational institutions and the local engineering community.
Backing from Ireland’s engineering and enterprise community
Among those who joined were James Boyle of IDA Ireland, Anna Marie Woods of the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship programme, and Barry Shortt of NIBRT (the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training) — each representing organisations that play a key role in building Ireland’s life sciences and advanced manufacturing talent pipeline. Their attendance, alongside many other guests from industry, education and the local business community, underlined the level of support behind Rockstone’s new Monaghan base.
Rockstone is grateful for the support it has received in establishing its Monaghan operation, including from IDA Ireland, NIBRT, the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship programme, Local Enterprise Office Monaghan, Enterprising Monaghan, Enterprise Ireland and the wider local business community.
With operations now established in Switzerland and Ireland, Rockstone’s focus is on continuing to grow its engineering capability, develop its talent network and strengthen its partnerships across the European life sciences sector.
The Monaghan headquarters represents more than a second location for the company: it is the foundation from which Rockstone will keep connecting specialist engineering talent with opportunities across Ireland and Europe.
